Ronald Ellis Cole, Sr., 81, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away February 2, 2024. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts to Merlin E. Cole and Rozalia M. Lamothe.
Ron graduated from David Prouty High School Class of 1961 and proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was the Deputy Chief of the East Brookfield Police Department and was a volunteer fireman with the East Brookfield Fire Department.
He started the first Babe Ruth baseball team in East Brookfield which went on to win the Worcester County Babe Ruth league championship in their first year of competition.
An avid car enthusiast, Ron owned over 150 vehicles in his lifetime. He loved all things motorized/racing and traveled across the country supporting and wrenching for his childrens’ motor cross events.
Ron loved and closely followed Nascar and attended many races with his family.
He worked for General Motors as a general assembler, retiring to Florida in 1992. Once in Florida he worked as a school bus driver for many years.
Ron enjoyed golfing with his golf buddies at Deltura Country Club where he made a total of seven holes in one.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Christine M. Cole-Ingalls and his son-in-law David Ingalls. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Carolyn (Kowalski) Cole; his sons Ronald Ellis Cole, Jr. and Robert A. Cole; his daughter Cynthia A. Cole; his grandsons Michael (Sarah), Brendan, Seth (Jill) and Alec (Alyssa); and his granddaughters Elizabeth Cole (Nick), Jackilyn Melanson (Pat) and Katrena Cole (Robert). Great grandchildren include Joseph, Anthony, Vivianne and Tobias Santos, Genevieve and Mila Melanson, Caine Beer and Jax Pickard.
The family will plan a memorial service at a place and date to be determined.
Ron will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.
